Stu-Stu-Studio...

Our first Studio Saturday since the Grand Re-Opening was a blast! I got to start the day off shooting Keisha & Durban's engagement session. They were only in town from New York for the weekend and I am so glad they stopped by to hang out with me! They are so funny! I am looking forward to their wedding in September!

Next I assisted Patty on a few shoots of hers: including two former wedding clients who now have babies! Jacob is absolutely precious. A Hurricanes fan in the making.
Garrett is growing so fast! I couldn't believe he's only a year and a half because he seemed three!

Finally we closed the day Karen & Jimmy's engagement session. Patty & Melissa will shoot their wedding this upcoming Saturday- hooray for them!

We've finally joined the world of bloggers...

As many of you know, our winter season got off to a roaring start with a fire on December 7th, 2006. The electrical fire started in our studio, thankfully while we were all here. We lost our studio and suffered damage to our offices, but not one of us was injured. It took a while to rebuild, but our studio is finally finished!! We are excited to get back to shooting here-- and in our fabulously renovated studio!
We owe a huge thanks to the firemen who put out the fire and to our clients for their understanding and support-- so we've decided to have a grand re-opening to celebrate! Email us if you'd like an evite: info@touchofcolorphotography.com.

What do you do if a dog runs full speed ahead at you?

Take his picture, of course!

While in South America a few months ago, I snapped more than just flying dogs. We went to Rio de Janeiro for a few days: Corcovado, Ipanema, Copa Cabana, etc. Then we spent a week in Buenos Aires. We loved it!

Anytime you get the chance to visit Rio-- do it! And in B.A. eat at Los Lilos. Listed as the only restaurant in the world that's worth the airfare to eat there.

A day for love...

Casey & Randy had a beautiful wedding on an old farm, Rose Hill Plantation in Nashville, North Carolina on March 24. Jeff & Jennifer also got married on March 24 and couldn't have had a more beautiful day. Both couples chose to experience what we call "Private Time", that is, before the wedding we set aside a few minutes when the two can be together, when they can see each other in peace and quiet, for the first time on their big day. We've got our telephoto lenses on and we've backed off... we let the real purpose of this special day remind them to be calm as they enjoy being with each other- and looking better than ever! (Then of course after they're ready, we take a chance at snapping a few posed shots.) We aren't always able to capture these emotional shots during a ceremony, especially when many churches have "no photography" rules... which is one of the reasons we love to do "private time."
Here are a few of our favorite unforgettable moments from these two weddings.

"Now I know what love is..." Virgil

I love to shoot engagement sessions. Love it. Recently I photographed Wendi & Dean here at our studio- they'd actually been the winners of our Free Engagement Session from the Wedding Show in January. Wendi & Dean will be getting married in Wilmington on May 5th.

I also was able to shoot Megan & Patrick at Duke last Friday. Megan & Patrick met at Duke University, and they're getting married at the Duke Gardens in October, so it's only so appropos to have their engagement session here! They flew down from New Jersey just for a weekend of wedding organizing mania.

Travel time!

This past weekend was a traveling weekend... both Ashley and Melissa decided to take advantage of a weekend off before the busy wedding season and hit some of our nations highlights. Ashley went to New York City... and had a blast! Here are a few photographic highlights from her trip to the Big Apple, where she and her husband went visited friends, went to a great comedy show, shopped and ate great Italian food.

Melissa went to Washington D.C. at the peak of the Cherry Blossom Festival! She and her husband walked around all the monuments, a couple of museums, Arlington National Cemetary and the National Zoo- all in 3 days!

Mia Tate

Mia finally arrived! Isn't she precious?! Ashley was lucky enough to get to shoot her in utero and then again at 2 months! Here are a few of our favorites...
